Owner and Founder - Jim Colburn
The genesis for Mt. Sun Touring Company was Jim’s passion for camping (at a formative age) and motorcycling (since 1994). However, trying to merge this “perfect fit” proved illusive, as nothing in the way of camping gear seemed to work once it was strapped to the bike. That said (and a closet full of useless camping gear), he decided to form a company that would focus solely on the needs of the adventure rider. The first product to be engineered, tested and marketed by Mt Sun was the “Sherpa 28l” tank pannier, which, to this day, is still their biggest selling item. With growth came additional products that are now considered essential equipment by the serious adventure rider. Additionally, to supplement that which Mt Sun engineered, they have added over 100 carefully selected, related camping items from various other disciplines that adapt well to adventure touring.
A Retired NAVY Commander, Jim spends most of the winter months skiing at Deer Valley Resort where he is a Mountain Host. Summers are spent “beta” testing new products developed over the winter and vending at various rallies(mostly BMW) throughout the West. Mt Sun Touring products may be seen at their retail store located in the historic district of Park City, UT.
